Anti-Social Behaviour

Anti-social behaviour is defined as being behaviour that causes ‘Harassment, Alarm or Distress to one or more people not of the same household’.
Anti-social behaviour is a broad ranging issue which can include a whole range of selfish and unacceptable acts and behaviours that impact on both individual victims and whole communities. Behaviours and acts that can be seen as anti social include (but are not limited to):
Drug/ substance misuse & dealing
Street Drinking
Begging
Prostitution
Kerb crawling
Abandoned cars
Vehicle-related nuisance
Noise
Rowdy behaviour
Drunken behaviour
Nuisance behaviour
Hoax calls
Animal related problems
Intimidation/ harassment
Criminal damage/ vandalism
Litter/ rubbish
Generally anti-social behaviour in North Dorset is relatively low-level. The most common complaints frequent around issues of:
- Alcohol related nuisance. For example drunken, rowdy or inconsiderate behaviour;
- Nuisance neighbours. For example boundary disputes or persistent and inconsiderate noise;
- Rowdy & nuisance youths. For example congregating in large groups outside local shops drinking/ smoking/ intimidating passers by;
- Anti-social use of vehicles. For example driving cars in a dangerous/ inconsidrate manner;
- Littering and Dog fouling.
