Completion

When you have finished your project you or your builder should request a completion inspection. This notification should be given within 5 days of completion and at least 5 days before occupation.

The Building Control Officer will undertake a final inspection and provided all works comply with Building Regulations a Completion Certificate will be issued.

If outstanding items are identified, these will be explained to you and you will need to notify us when they have been dealt with so that a further inspection can be arranged.

A Completion Certificate is evidence that the requirements of the Building Regulations, specified on the certificate, have been complied with.

In the event that you sell or re-mortgage the property in the future the Completion Certificate is normally required.

Please call Building Control at North Dorset District Council on (01258) 484259/266 Fax (01258) 484265 or email us at buildcontrol@north-dorset.gov.uk for more details of this service.
