Dorset Countryside
Dorset Countryside embraces Dorset County Council's Access Team and Ranger Service - together they work on the management of the countryside for the enjoyment of all. Dorset Countryside concentrates it's work on a number of key areas:
Access
- Manage Dorset's 3000 miles of outstanding public paths keeping them well signed, open and easy to use.
- Develop high quality recreational trails and local routes.
Conservation
- Carry out environmental and landscape improvements on country parks, other sites and the wider countryside.
- Manage two country parks for biodiversity and recreation.
Information
- Offer a range of advice and information on countryside issues.
Recreation
- Manage and maintain the recreation facilities on it's sites and within the wider countryside recreational network.
Tourism
- Support the rural economy through sustainable tourism and recreational initiatives.
Partnerships
- Working closely with the local community on local initiatives.
- Working in partnership with district and borough councils.
Dorset Countryside's North Dorset Ranger Team is jointly funded by Dorset County Council and North Dorset District Council. This partnership is vital to the provision of a high quality service in North Dorset. Dorset Countryside manages a number of sites owned by NDDC for nature conservation and public enjoyment.
