Deep concern has been expressed by Councillors at the proposed sell-off of affordable housing in North Dorset by the Signpost Housing Association, leading to an emergency motion being tabled at the Council Meeting on 27 June.

The Council has approved its first equity loan to a private householder in Shaftesbury. The loans will enable lower income families to carry out essential repairs their homes.

More than 130 people attended a meeting at Blandford School on Tuesday 17 June to show their support for Blandford Leisure Centre which will lose its funding from the District Council in 2010. The meeting was called by the Blandford Leisure Centre Action Group (BLCAG).

Shaftesbury Leisure Centre will be open seven days a week starting on Saturday 28 June. The centre will be open from 8.00am until midday every Saturday giving local people even more of an opportunity to make use of the facilities on offer.
