Parish Plans
Working with Dorset Community Action, the Council is keen to encourage all Parishes within the district to produce a Parish Plan.
Parishes are encouraged to set out their vision for their village to guide its future development. A plan will need to address the needs of the entire community and everyone should have an opportunity to participate in its preparation.
The Council has prepared a draft guidance note on Parish Planning which can be accessed through the link on the right side of this page.
A total of 41 towns and parishes have completed community plans (with several parishes producing joint plans) equating to 31 completed plans. This includes one parish that is updating its parish plan. Six parish plans are in progress.
Currently (October 2009) approximately 83% of the population of North Dorset reside in communities that have completed a town or parish plan. This is shown in the link ‘Status of Parish and Community Plan Preparation’ on the right of the page.
Completed plans can be viewed below and a map presenting the status of parish plan completion can be seen here. These are large PDF files, so you may have to wait for the file to load.
North Dorset District Council is keen to be involved in the parish planning process and may be able to assist in providing officer support and guidance, if required.
