SturQuest (Sturminster, Stalbridge and surrounding area)

SturQuest is the community company for Sturminster Newton and its surrounding area.  It was established, and is run by, volunteers with the aims of encouraging and enabling the way the town and surrounding area plans for itself to evolve over the coming years.  The guiding principle is that the evolution should be for the benefit of the town and surrounding areas.

Sturquest was formed in 2002 as a “not for profit” company limited by guarantee, with a remit which included a wider area than just the town.  With the exception of a part-time administration assistant, everyone is an unpaid volunteer.  Monthly partnership meetings are held in the Sturquest Office in The Exchange, Old Market Hill.  The partnership is supported by a dedicated Community Development Worker.

Sturminster Newton Area Action Plan

The Sturminster Newton Action Plan (2003) plans for the future.  It sets a vision for the future of the town and area, and looks in detail at action needed to develop the economy, lifelong learning, movement/transport, the environment and community facilities.  This Action Plan is a working document and will change as new issues emerge, e.g. as villages develop ideas through Parish Plans.
