Staff Recognition Scheme

The representatives of the Staff Consultation Group appreciate that staff often go above and beyond “the call of duty” in their work and that this is not always Recognised.  The Group has been working on a Staff Recognition Scheme, the details of which are attached.

The Recognition Scheme was launched in January 2009 to be trialled during 2009.

The Council has agreed the Scheme, with the Leader stating "I am positive that Members will welcome this trial of a Recognition Scheme, and would encourage them to make nominations as appropriate.  I have often felt that the plaudits earned by staff in their dealings with our public have not been given a fair exposure; I hope and believe this will help to redress that situation and further encourage the Council's improvement journey".

We would encourage you to read the attached document and consider any individual’s qualifying areas of work, customer feedback, projects etc which have taken place since the middle of last year for which you feel the employee should be Recognised and therefore be Nominated.

Since the first assessment panel held at the end of February, 22 members of staff from 7 teams have been Recognised for demonstrating outstanding commitment and exceeding what is expected of them in terms of performance, effort and customer care.  The Chief Executive has written to these members of staff to congratulate them.  If you have any nominations you would like to be considered at the next assessment panel, please send them to the Personnel Team at North Dorset District Council, Nordon, Salisbury Road, Blandford Forum, Dorset, DT11 7LL or via email personnel@north-dorset.gov.uk.
