Corporate Plan
The current Corporate Plan (2008/13) was approved by Council in June 2008 and is the overarching plan for North Dorset District Council. The criteria for including priorities in the Corporate Plan are that they should be:
- Corporate or cross cutting aims/actions to deliver improvement or
- Service level issues of such significance that their achievement is of Council wide importance.
In developing the plan for 2008-2013 the Cabinet took into account:
- The Comprehensive spending review.
- The Local Area Agreement for 2008-2011.
- The findings of the Comprehensive Performance Assessment in 2007.
- The Tough Choices Programme.
- The new indicator set for local government.
A number of developments have taken place since the plan was originally adopted and therefore a light touch review has recently taken place which takes account of these drivers. Further work and analysis is currently being undertaken following the publication of the Place Survey and this, together with current economic, environmental and financial drivers will set the context for a more substantial review of our Corporate Plan this autumn for publication next year.
The current draft contains a number of suggested changes from the 2008 document, including the following:
- The revised Council Core Values that were recently comprehensively reviewed with input from the Core Values Working Group, Members, Staff Consultation Group and Senior Management Team.
- The description of the Council’s Economic theme has been amended to take account more accurately of the changing economic circumstances.
- Business Plan objectives have been incorporated to provide more explicit links to the work that is being undertaken to reduce the impact of the economic downturn and supporting the economic recovery. Access and social inclusion outcomes arising from equality impact assessments, and our work in partnership to reduce carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency and air quality.
- The annual objectives set out in the business plans approved by Cabinet in April 2009.
- The Council’s progress at March 2009 in meeting our five-year objectives.
- Progress in the delivery of the Council’s Medium Term Financial Plan.
- Delivering actions from community plans and parish plans 2008/9.
- Published Audit Commission reports in 2008/9.
