Councillor Lt. Col. Mike Oliver was first elected to the Council as an Independent Councillor in 1991 and is the ward member for Cranborne Chase. He was elected Chairman in May 2004.

Chairman is an honorary position within the Council and his duties include chairing meetings of the Council and representing the Council at Civic events and other functions. His chosen charity is the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Cllr Oliver served in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards for 35 years and retired in 1986. He has lived in Pimperne with his wife Jill for 28 years. Cllr Oliver is Chairman of Pimperne CE VC First School, Vice Chairman of Pimperne Parish Council and Pimperne PCC.
