Requesting information
The Council considers itself to be an open and transparent authority, however, inevitably some information will be held that is not routinely published and is otherwise unavailable to the general public.
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 aims to increase the openness of public bodies by providing a general right of access to information. This new access right comes into force on 1st January, 2005.
The Act will oblige the Council, subject to some exemptions, to:
- Inform an applicant whether it holds the requested information;
- Provide the information if it is held; and
- Respond to requests within 20 working days.
To make an application for information youcan complete in the form below (you can either print it off and send it to us by post to Freedom of Information Officer, North Dorset District Council, Nordon, Salisbury Road, Blandford, Dorset DT11 7LL or download it, fill it in on your PC and e-mail it back to foi@north-dorset.gov.uk).You will be advised if a charge is payable on receipt of your application.
