Development and Resources
We provide a range of internal services to officers and Councillors including finance, information technology and personnel. We also provide support to Councillors and the senior management team.
We check applications for Building Regulations approval and carry out inspections to safeguard people's health and safety in most newly constructed buildings and extenstions in the district. We aim to provide a high level of service including better response times, comprehensive advice and a teamwork approach with customers and other professionals, while maintaining a high degree of professional knowledge in an ever-changing environment.
Development Control
We deal with the determination of planning applications, planning appeals and all inquiries about existing or proposed development in the District.
We also ensure that planning decisions are complied with and deal with complaints about unauthorised development work.
Technical Services
We are responsible for the Council's engineering and construction projects, land drainage & flood matters, and the maintenance of Council buildings and public open spaces.
Facilities
We deal with a range of services including procurement, fleet management, accommodation, security, cleaning and aspects of health safety. We are also responsible for delivering an efficient and effective service in support of our customers.
We provide support and advice to Councillors and managers on employment-related issues, dealing with the Council's training programme and all recruitment matters.
Senior Managers’ Support
This team provides secretarial support to the Chief Executive, General Managers, Chairman and Cabinet.
