Dog Breeding Establishments

If you are breeding dogs for sale and five litters or more are born in any 12 month period, a licnece is required.

Once an application has been made with the appropriate fee, an inspection will be arranged.

An application form is available and the current fee can be checked with the link below.  If you are a new applicant then you are advised to discuss your proposal with us before applying.

The legislation covering dog breeding is the Breeding and Sale of Dogs (Welfare) Act 1999 which can be found on www.hmso.gov.uk website.

Additional information may be found on www.the-kennel-club.org.uk website.

Please call Environmental Health at North Dorset District Council (01258) 484381 or e-mail us for more details of this service.
