Unauthorised Encampments

The Council will respond to and investigate unauthorised encampments on Council-owned land – usually amenity sites throughout the District.

Encampments on roadside verges, laybys etc, are dealt with by the Gypsy and Traveller liasion Service at Dorset County Council, who can be contacted on (01305) 224955

Encampments on private land are the responsibility of the landowner and it is advisable to seek legal advice if an unauthorised encampment occurs on land belonging to you. Informal advice may be given by Dorset County Council’s Gypsy and Travellers Liasion Service on (01305) 224955 (office hours) or 01305 224214 (outside office hours).

Authorised Gypsy and Traveller Sites
