Health Promotion

From time to time health promotion campaigns are undertaken, usually as part of a national or local initiative, to advice residents and those working in North Dorset on how they can protect themselves from potential threats to their health.

A recent example is the work undertaken to raise awareness of dermatitis in the hair dressing profession.  From time to time visits are made to demonstrate to younger children the correct hand washing procedure and discussion on the importance of this in controlling the spread of disease.

We can also advise you on providers of food hygiene training and currently offer this training by way of an interactive CD which can be used in the workplace or at home.

Many leaflets are kept on food and safety topics and you are welcome to discuss issues with officers who will advise you on the availability of leaflets or direct you to other organisations who may be able to assist.

Please call Environmental Health at North Dorset District Council (01258) 484381 or e-mail us for more details of this service.
