Street Closure Orders

Under S21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 North Dorset District Council can make orders to divert traffic in the event of “public processions, rejoicings or illuminations” or other events of a similar nature. We do not have the power to close roads for commercial purposes such as markets.

Dorset County Council is responsible for making orders to close roads for any other type of purpose and can be contacted on 01305 251000.

Making an Application

Please see applicant guidance notes prior to completing an application form.

The form should be sent to the Licensing Team, North Dorset District Council, Nordon, Salisbury Road, Blandford Forum, DT11 7LL.

There is no fee payable. Please allow 8 weeks for an application to be processed as consultations have to be undertaken with the Police, Town/Parish Councils and bus companies.
