Have you got a problem with pests?

Modern, centrally heated homes can offer an inviting shelter during the cold winter months; open windows during the summer invite other pests in to investigate possible food sources.

Quite often, it's the cleanest homes that are most at risk. Whatever we do, pests can be a year-round problem.

What should I do?

If you at your home or members of a workforce in a business environment were to notice evidence of rodent or insect pests, would you know what action to take to eliminate the problem?

From insects to animals, pests come in all shapes and sizes, some look unpleasant - but most are harmless. However, there are a few pests that can cause more than a nuisance and these should be dealt with-because they can pose a risk to your health.

If you do notice a 'pest problem', the earlier that these problems are dealt with the better. You may wish to consider taking advice or treatment from the Councils Pest Control Service.

Many household nuisances can be dealt with by using the humane traps and chemicals available in the shops but sometimes it's advisable to call in the experts to solve a persistent problem. We have a well-established pest control service with friendly well-trained staff. Our connection with the Environmental Health Service also allows for greater liaison and this gives a more direct and comprehensive information base for related matters.

The Pest Control Service is provided by a private contractor, SDK (Environmental) Ltd, under contract to the Council. A range of pests can be treated on domestic premises at discount rates.

For other pests not listed, or for treatments on commercial premises, you can be referred to the company who will contact you to discuss prices, or you may wish to use another company.
