Arts & Culture

North Dorset is home to a wealth of cultural organisations, enterprises and activities. Artists, craftspeople, food producers, farm shops, galleries and venues are located around the District, contributing to the area’s sense of place and community.

North Dorset District Council aims to support arts and cultural activities primarily through Dorset Artsreach. We also see the arts as having a vital role within wider issues, such as community safety, the environment and economic development.

Our aim is to ensure that local people have access to a range of arts experiences, that involve professional and amateur artists, and that our cultural enterprises are supported as much as possible.

Customer Service Standards

We will strive to offer at all times:

  • An accessible, informed and informative service to all across the district.
  • A first port of call for advice, whether they be internal or external to NDDC.
  • Relevant channels, whether through brochures, internet or face-to-face, to promote our services
  • Providing advice and guidance to developers, communities, individual members of the public, councillors and officers of the Council.
  • Working in partnership with external organisations and authorities

Target: To Respond to letters and memoranda within ten working days, to answer telephone calls within fifteen seconds or provide a voicemail service, to provide officers and councillors with a response to consultations within ten working days.

Because of the nature of our work, core officers are frequently out of the office. However emails and telephone messages will be responded to as soon as is practically possible, on the next working day in the office in most cases.
