Our Services

The Liveability team has two main areas of activity.  The first is to explore new and better ways of delivering services and the second is the delivery of a programme of environmental capital projects. We aim to do this in a fair, open and inclusive manner, whilst being sensitive to the varying needs and aspirations of our different customer groups.  Our customers include individuals and community groups, within North Dorset, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, private, public and voluntary sector partner organisations.

The key elements of our service are

  • Provision of Liveability fund information packs
  • Processing of bids for Liveability funding
  • Pre-bidding advice on the feasibility of projects
  • Submission of proposals for appraisal
  • Approval, deferral or rejection of projects in conjunction with the Liveability Project Panel and Board
  • Referral to other appropriate sources of funding and advice
  • Management of Sturminster House as a remote Council site for the Liveability team and its tenants
  • Delivery of the milestones against which we receive funding from ODPM.

Our standards are

  • To provide easily accessible information on Liveability
  • To handle bids in a fast, consistent, effective and equitable way
  • To provide information about successful proposals on the website
  • To continually monitor the process and make improvements where possible
  • To provide a comfortable and safe environment within Sturminster House for staff and tenants
  • To be open and approachable to members of the public who visit Sturminster House
