Environmental Management Centre - Sturminster House

Project Description

One of the milestones for North Dorset District Council was the establishment of an Environmental Managment Centre, which incorporated a Countryside Centre and a building that would be occupied by a wide range of environmental management groups. The building was refurbished by the Dorset Centre for Rural Skills.

The project has been established in Sturminster House for which the Council has the lease for 5 years.  The Centre is now occupied by the North Dorset Countryside Rangers, The Dorset Coppice Group, Chalk & Cheese, Chalk & Hawks, Dorset Wildlife Trust and the Liveability Team.

Each tenant pays a proportion of the rental and management costs.

Performance Indicators

This project was one of the key milestones as set out in the contract with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
