The Waves Swimming Scheme has been carefully designed to offer a full programme of swimming lessons for all ages and abilities. We are proud of our high standards of swimming teaching which adheres to the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) National Plan for Teaching Swimming.

Why Learn To Swim

  • SOCIAL
Swimming is a great leisure activity for all the family. Age is no barrier
  • SURVIVAL
The Blandford area is surrounded by water ways, with the town situated on the river stour. Being able to swim can save a life.
  • SKILL
Learn to swim, improve your skills and technique and join a club.
  • THERAPY
Swimming is great for all ages and abilities. Whether you are recovering from injury or illness, or have a disability, you can benefit from time spent in the water. Water gives support without too much resistance. Swimming helps concentration, co-ordination and keeps you healthy.

Swimming lessons are booked termly in line with the academic year, and each lesson lasts 30 minutes.  If your child would like to join the scheme please contact the leisure centre to arrange a swimming assessment with one of our qualified teachers.  We will then be able to place your child on the appropriate level of the ASA Scheme.
