Blandford St. Mary Play Area – Ball Court
This project will provide a multi goal play area and play surfacing for basket ball and football. The grant will be used to procure an Indiana Arena Sports system, including 7 metre goal and basketball backboard and hoop finished in blue and silver. It also includes provision and lay of 95m² of Macadam surfacing, including PVC edging and line court markings plus erection of 2 metre high temporary site fencing during installation and carriage charge.
The following outcomes are expected from the implementation of this project:
- the number of children and young people attracted to energetic play and engaged in a wide range of play experiences at this play area will increase from 60 to 130 by the end of the grant period.
- 10 children and young people will demonstrate increased confidence and self worth through the provision of free play spaces.
- 10 of the children and young people will become involved in the design, use, operation and maintenance of the play area by the end of the grant period.
The project is estimated to cost £12,000 with £10,000 coming from BLF and the remaining £2,000 raised by the town council. This project is set to start in mid September 2007.
