Rixon Rec Play Area
This project will provide play and adventure facilities for a wide age range from toddlers up to teenagers, designed with separate areas for the different age groups.
The play area will comprise; seesaw, bicycle roundabout, pony spring, swings, play house, small tower with slide and a toddler swing for the toddlers & younger children, which will be fenced separately, social area for parents/grandparents, supervising younger children, climbing web, zip wire, mobilus, multi-activity tower with tube slide, scramble nets, climbing wall, and many other adventure type activities, buddy swing, junior swing, cone climber, and trim trail for the mid age range and a teenagers hang out area.
The following outcomes are expected from the implementation of this project:
- the number of children and young people attracted to energetic play and engaged in a wide range of play experiences at this play area will increase from 40 to 300 by the end of the grant period.
- 60 children and young people will demonstrate increased confidence and self worth through the provision of free play spaces
- 16 of the children and young people will become involved in the design, use, operation and maintenance of the play area by the end of the grant period.
The project is estimated to cost £93,000 with £48,000 coming from BLF and the remaining £45,000 raised by the town council and the local community. This project is set to start at the beginning of September 2007.
