PLANNING ENQUIRIES & ADVICE

North Dorset’s Development Control Service is undertaking a review of its processes and introducing new computerised systems.  Because of this, the way in which the Service provides planning advice will change.

From the 23rd June 2008, the Planning Desk in the Council’s Reception at Blandford Forum will operate the following hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday – 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm
  • Wednesday – 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm
  • Friday – 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm

Free informal advice from a duty planning officer can be obtained by visiting Reception or by telephoning 01258 484220 during the following hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 9am to 1pm
  • Wednesday – 10am to 1pm

Please note that duty planners are not provided outside these times.

REQUESTS FOR CONFIRMATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH PLANNING CONDITIONS

The Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications and Deemed Applications) (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2008, which came into force on 6 April 2008, added one new category of planning fee for a request for written confirmation of compliance with one or more planning conditions.  The charge for this is £85, or £25 where the related permission was for a householder application for extending or altering a dwellinghouse or other development in the curtilage of a dwellinghouse.

The fee is payable where a written request is made in respect of any application, where written confirmation is required that one or more conditions imposed on the same permission have been complied with.  It does not matter when and how long ago the relevant planning permission was granted.  The fee must be paid when the request is made.

We have produced several guidelines to help you find out if your proposal requires planning permission.

All you need to know about making, viewing and commenting on an application.  A Standard Planning Application Form (1APP) is being introduced across England. It will replace all existing types of planning application forms, except for mineral workings.

You can view details of Appeals lodged, Appeal Decisions, details of Appeals that have been withdrawn and details of costs awarded against the Council in connection with Appeals. The Appeals Process is explained with links to helpful information.

All planning applications are decided against policies set out in the North Dorset District-Wide Local Plan.  Policies at National, Regional and County level also have a part to play.
