Do I need planning permission for?
This is rarely straightforward and depends on a variety of criteria. We have
produced several guidelines to try and help you determine whether planning permission
is required. If you are still uncertain we would advice you to put your proposals in writing
to the Planning Department.
Viewing a current or past planning application?
You are able to view all current and past planning applications free of charge
at our Council Offices at Norden, Salisbury Road, Blandford. Please follow signs to the Planning Department.
Alternatively contact the relevant town or parish clerk who may make their current planning applications
available to you. Their names and contact details can be found by following this link.

How can I get a copy of a document?
Copies of various documents are for sale including Local Plans, OS Map extracts,
decision notices and many others. To view a list of the charges click here or telephone
01258 484220 for details on how to purchase copies.

Is my building listed?
Contact the Council’s Conservation and Design service on 01258 484212 to find
out.
Am I in a Conservation Area?
To find if you are in a Conservation Area click on the appropriate location on
the map of the North Dorset District-Wide Local Plan.
Am I within the settlement boundary?
To find if you are within the settlement boundary click on the appropriate location
on the map of the North Dorset District-Wide Local Plan.
Do I need permission to do any works on
a tree - how can I find out if a tree is covered by a tree preservation order?

When is the next Committee date and what
is the agenda?
Please click on the following link for a full timetable of
forthcoming committee dates and our published agendas.
What time will Committee discuss an application?
Although Committee runs to a published order (see agenda)
there is no time-tabled schedule. Please phone 01258 484220 stating the application number to gain an
indication of when it is to be considered.
What decision did Committee make on an application?
Please phone 01258 484220 no sooner than the Wednesday after Committee, and have
the application number at hand.
How can I make a complaint?
We hope you never have cause to complain but if you do, the Council has a fully
adopted complaint procedure, which you may access by clicking on the following link.
Do you have any vacancies?
