Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Structure Plan

In Dorset the Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole Structure Plan, prepared jointly by these Councils, sets out the principles for development in the county as a whole. This Plan identifies such matters as the amount of housing and employment land which should be provided, as well as setting out policies on tourism, shopping, community facilities, waste, energy, etc. The Structure Plan makes up part of the current ‘Development Plan’ for the North Dorset District Council area. Decisions on planning applications by the Council are required to be made in accordance with the adopted Development Plan unless other material considerations, relating to land use development, indicate otherwise.

(For information: other Plans that make up the current Development Plan for planning applications in North Dorset are the North Dorset District Wide Local Plan, the Dorset Minerals and Waste Local Plans and the South West Regional Planning Guidance note 10, although these will eventually be replaced, as required by the 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act)

Information on the Structure Plan, including information on 'saved policies' can be found by following the link to Dorset County Council’s Spatial Planning page
