Managing Housing Land Supply Supplementary Planning Document

On 27th July 2007 the Council adopted the ‘Managing Housing Land Supply in North Dorset’ Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).  The formal adoption statement can be downloaded from the link to the right.

Introductory sections in the adopted SPD explain why it is necessary to manage the ‘oversupply’ of housing in the District and outline the relevant policies from the Development Plan.  The adopted SPD examines the current housing land supply situation and the delivery of affordable housing in relation to Local Plan targets.  It also explains how the Council will manage the release of the Local Plan’s remaining unimplemented housing allocations and indicates how the Council will manage the release of further non-allocated housing sites. Please use the link to the right to download the adopted SPD.

The Council undertook formal consultation on the draft SPD from 9th March to 20th April 2007.  A summary of the main issues raised in the representations can be downloaded from the link to the right.

A full schedule of all the responses to the formal consultation exercise was produced for Cabinet on 2nd July and was amended for Council on 27th July 2007.  The agendas and minutes for these meetings can be downloaded from the ‘Minutes & Agendas’ section of the website.

Prior to formal public consultation on the draft SPD, the Council also undertook some informal consultation at a series of meetings and workshops in October and November 2006.  The details of this informal consultation exercise are included in a ‘Consultation Statement’, which can be downloaded from the link to the right.

The Council is required to carry out a Sustainability Appraisal of each SPD it produces, assessing the likely impacts of the proposed policies against a series of social, economic and environmental criteria.  The adopted Sustainability Appraisal Report for this SPD can be downloaded from the link to the right.
