Strategic Flood Risk Assessment
In July 2007 North Dorset District Council commissioned consultants to produce a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) Level 1. This was commissioned jointly with four other local councils in the Stour and Avon catchment areas: Bournemouth Borough Coucnil, Christchurch Borough Council, East Dorset District Council and Salisbury District Council.
The SFRA assesses all forms of flood risk both now and in the future (taking likely climate change into account). The purpose is to:
- inform the sustainability appraisal so that flood risk is taken into account when considering options in the preparation of startegic land use policies;
- propose appropriate policy recommendations for the management of flood risk within the Local Development Documents;
- determine the acceptability of flood risk in relation to emergency planning capability;
- identify the level of detail rrequired for future site-specific Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) that support planing applications.
The final report was issued in Feburary 2008. Please use links to the right to download documents.
