Resident Hospital Patients

You will be disregarded if you are a patient in a hospital which is your only or main home. If you are in hospital for a short time and you have a home elsewhere, you will carry on paying council tax at your home. (Hospitals can be either civilian or military).

See connections with Class E exemption.  See details under Exemptions

Please contact the Council to request a claim application form. The form should be completed in full and returned to the Council with a letter from hospital, confirming that the patient has their main residence in the hospital. Following approval, a revised bill of account will be issued.
