Handiworks

Bournemouth based charity Help and Care and North Dorset District Council work in partnership to provide a Handiworks home repairs scheme to residents in North Dorset. The scheme provides an affordable, convenient and reliable solution to home repairs for people over 60 and their carers. Handiworks services include: plumbing, carpentry, installing security and safety equipment and minor electrical and building work.

Help and Care

For a small annual fee and a subsidised hourly rate, membership of the scheme provides reliable help with minor DIY jobs around the home. All contractors are skilled, experienced and police checked, giving customers peace of mind and taking the worry out of finding reliable trades people.

If the Help and Care Handiworks team cannot provide the service required Handiworks will supply the contact details of a trade’s person that can help.

It allows carers to enter a persons property if the person is in difficulty or if they cannot access their front door. It is also used in conjunction with Telecare systems so that if a person is not contactable a carer, can be summoned and can enter the property to ensure that there are not any problems
