Housing Repair

Housing

The Council can assist homeowners, landlords and tenants with concerns regarding the repair of their homes.  View the Council's Private Sector Housing Strategy for more detailed information.

The Council offers financial assistance for owner-occupiers on low income or with a disability whose properties are in such a condition as to affect their health, safety, welfare and security.

The Council supports a Home Improvement Agency run by Anchor Staying Put.  The Home Improvement Agency provides confidential advice, support and assistance to people over the age of 60 or people with a disability living in the North Dorset area, who may need repairs, improvements or adaptations to their homes.

Tenants are welcome to contact the Council regarding a variety of issues concerning the repair of their private rented accommodation.  The Council can advise on the standards that should be achieved and work with landlords to ensure necessary repairs and improvements are carried out.

Landlords are encouraged to contact the Council regarding a variety of issues concerning private rented accomodation.  The Council has a key role to play in advising landlords on information about necessary repairs and standards.

Please call Environmental Health at North Dorset District Council (01258) 484381 or e-mail us for more details of this service.
