Home Improvement Agency

Anchor Staying Put is a not-for-profit Home Improvement Agency run by The Anchor Trust in partnership with North Dorset District Council, Dorset Social Health and Care, North Dorset Primary Care Trust and Dorset Supporting People.
The Home Improvement Agency provides confidential advice, support and assistance to people over the age of 60 or people with a disability living in the North Dorset area who may need repairs, improvements or adaptations to their homes. Their goal is to enable older and disabled people to “stay put” in the community in comfort and security.
The Home Improvement Agency may be able to assist you:
- In deciding exactly what work should be done to your home and prepare drawings and schedules of work. Typical jobs include, insulation improvements, disabled adaptations, roofing, replacement windows, damp proofing and rewiring etc.
- In obtaining prices, advise you on reliable contractors and inspection of the works on site
- In getting information on the different ways of paying for the work, including grants from North Dorset District Council, home insulation grants and charitable assistance etc.
- By providing advice on help available from social security benefits
However if you choose not to use these services, the agency may be able to put you in touch with the right people for your needs.
