Sustainable Energy/Renewable Energy

The Dorset Energy Group has completed a set of eight information sheets relating to sustainable energy and micro renewable installations. These can be viewed or downloaded from the right hand side of this page and provide up to date information on the measures that residents can incorporate into their homes.

The sheets provide the following information:

Background to each renewable energy technology

  • The approximate amount of your household heat and power requirement that each technology can provide
  • The best place to site an installation
  • The maintenance required (if any)
  • How much each technology costs
  • What grants are available
  • How long the technology must be used before it pays back its extra cost
  • Grid connection issues (where appropriate)
  • Planning issues
  • The potential for each technology in Dorset
  • A summary of pros and cons of each technology
  • Installers operating in the South West
  • Where to find more information
