General Waste - Most properties in North Dorset receive a weekly sack collection service    However we have a pilot scheme in the north of the district providing a sort wheeled bin service.  Please use the links below for more information on our service.

Weekly sack collection of general household waste from the front edge of the property.  See more information on sack collections.

Fortnightly collection of general household waste from the front edge of the property.  See more information on Organics Pilot Scheme.

– Brown Wheeled Bin (Pilot Scheme, selected properties)

Weekly Collection of organic kitchen waste and cardboard, to be taken to the "in-vessel" composting facility.  See more information on Organics Pilot Scheme.

Fortnightly collection of recyclable waste.  These services are complimented by other types and frequencies of waste collections for those properties deemed unsuitable for the standard collection methods and by an extensive network of recycling centres throughout the borough. See "Recycling Sites" section for more details.

The Council is currently recycling or composting over 40% of its waste and is currently the best performing borough in Dorset.  See more information on Recycling.

Garden waste may be composted at home or taken to the Bulky Household Waste Sites where it is recycled into compost.

Alternatively the Council provides a garden waste collection service for householders. The garden waste must be placed in special green pre-paid sacks. See more information on Garden Waste.

Large or heavy items, such as furniture and white goods cannot be taken on the normal collection rounds. The Council offers, for a small charge, a service for the collection of these items from domestic properties. Alternatively, they may be taken to the Bulky Household Waste Sites, where they will be accepted free of charge.  See more information on Bulky Collections.

Good quality furniture and other household items can be recycled or re-used by local charitable organisations which make the items available to families and individuals in receipt of low incomes and benefits.  See more information on Re-Use Organisations.

The District Council also provides cleansing services.  Please use the links below:
