Recycle as much as possible

Kerbside Recycling Scheme

The fortnightly kerbside recycling collection will continue as normal. Please contact the Council if you do not have a green kerbside recycling box.

Any additional recycling that won’t fit in the kerbside box can be put next to the box in plastic bags.

 

The following materials can be recycled in the kerbside collection scheme:-

 Kerbside Box and Bag

Plastics

YES PLEASE - Plastic bottles only

The plastic bottles that can be recycled are made from one of only three polymer types. PET (e.g. fizzy drink bottles and squash bottles), HDPE (e.g. milk bottles and detergent bottles), PVC (e.g. large squash bottles).

(Please remove lids, wash and squash bottles)

NO THANKYOU - Yoghurt pots, ice cream tubs, margarine tubs, flower pots, carrier bags,     polystyrene, drinks cartons

 

Aluminium or steel cans and tins

YES PLEASE - Aluminium drink cans, steel drink cans, empty household aerosols, steel food cans. (Please wash and squash cans and tins).

NO THANKYOU - Industrial aerosols (e.g. car spray, paint), any other metal, aluminium foil and foil trays.

 

Paper

YES PLEASE - Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, pamphlets, Yellow Pages (November to January only)

NO THANKYOU - Shredded paper, cardboard, window envelopes

 

Glass bottles and jars(kerbside sort rounds only)

YES PLEASE - Any colour (brown, green, clear, blue)

NO THANKYOU - Ceramics, light bulbs, window glass, mirror glass, Pyrex or plate glass

If you are not on a kerbside sort round please take your glass bottles and jars to a bottle bank.
