Battery Recycling

All batteries can create harm for the environment, by recycling portable batteries we can all do our bit to protect the environment

Household Batteries (e.g. from cameras, torches etc)

North Dorset now has a portable battery collection point by the main reception at Nordon, Salisbury Road, Blandford Forum, Dorset DT11 7LL

This service is provided free of charge by the producers, distributors and retailers of portable batteries who now have a legal obligation to make provision for the recycling of portable batteries.  This legal obligation does not extend to local authorities who can collect batteries but it must be at no cost to the local authority.

Alternatively batteries can be disposed of at all Household Recycling Centres. Look out for the new green battery-shaped recycling containers.

Car Batteries

Car batteries can be deposited at all Household Recycling Centres. The batteries are taken away for safe and proper recycling.
