New Developments

When will NDDC start collecting refuse

North Dorset District Council’s policy states that refuse materials should be presented for collection at the nearest suitable point of the adopted highway.

Within new developments roads do not become adopted until several years after completion.

In an effort to overcome this problem and provide the most efficient refuse collection service, NDDC carry out a risk assessment of a new development to determine a safe place for collection.  This will always be within an area awaiting adoption.

A further risk assessment can take place in the future and further collection points may be established.

Residents will need to carry out their refuse from the development to the collection point.

Once the road adoption is complete, we will collect from the nearest suitable point of the adopted highway.
