Landlord Forum

Housing Seminar

Joyce Guest, North Dorset District Council General Manager Community Services, introduces landlords to the Councils inaugural landlord forum on the 26 October 2005

North Dorset District Council possesses a landlord forum for landlords and letting agents who rent residential property in the area.  The first forum met in October 2005 and had the theme, "What Can North Dorset District Council Do For You?"  The evening forum contained presentations on a Landlord Accreditation Scheme for North Dorset, a Rent Deposit Scheme for Tenants, Information on Council Tax and Housing Benefit issues and details of a Private Sector Leasing Scheme for landlords.

Further landlord meetings have been held in April 2006, October 2007 and June 2008.

In March 2007 the Council produced its first Landlord Update Newsletter.  This is aimed to keep landlords and letting agents informed of council services and up to date with new legislation and guidance.

Click on the links to find out more about the presentations given at the forum and the Council's Newsletter.  The Council aims to host further landlord forum meetings in 2006.

The main aims of the forum is to:

  • Provide a focus for discussion on private sector housing issues, including best practice, guidance and legislation.
  • Provide a consultation mechanism with landlords for new policies and procedures.
  • Improve and develop services available to landlords and tenants in North Dorset

The Council is particularly keen to hear from landlords who would like to attend future forum meetings.  Please remember that they are open to anybody involved in private lettings including voluntary groups, advice agencies and those thinking of becoming landlords.  In addition landlords are encouraged to suggest topics of interest or concern that they would like to be included at future meetings.

Please call Environmental Health at North Dorset District Council (01258) 484381 or e-mail us for more details of this service.
