Marnhull Play Area Rejuvenation
This project will provide children and young people with opportunities for free, energetic and active play in a safe environment. The play area will include; one rocking log, 2 log walks, one clatter bridge, one Jukebox Salsa unit inclusive of slides, Hercules bridges and climbing frames, one parrot seesaw, inclusive of orbit with wheelchair station, junior swing with Huck birds nest swing seat and two bay junior swings.
The project will include the installation of 220m² of Safety Matta Tiles and the delivery of the new equipment and removal of the old equipment. It will also cover the levelling and other landscaping works (topsoil and re-turfing)
The following outcomes are expected from the implementation of this project:
- the number of children and young people attracted to energetic play and engaged in a wide range of play experiences at this play area will increase from 60 to 300 by the end of the grant period.
- 50 children and young people will demonstrate increased confidence and self worth through the provision of free play spaces.
- 16 of the children and young people will become involved in the design, use, operation and maintenance of the play area by the end of the grant period.
The project is estimated to cost £59,329 with £48,000 coming from BLF and the remaining £11,329 raised by the parish council. This project is set to start in October 2007.
